Ari Lankin, born in Pennsylvania in 1980, received his BFA with High Honors from Brandeis University in 2003. Since then, he has dedicated himself to a pure approach to painting. Embracing a whatever-it-takes attitude to continue creating, he has had studios in his childhood home, a cabin in solitude, and currently his studio in New York City. His present body of work focuses on all-over abstraction draws from memories of people watching, and the everything-all-of-the-time lifestyle of the city. Ultimately he is concerned with elements of exploration, risk, wisdom, process and chance rather than specific subject matter.
